The Sous Chef role at Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport is key to delivering a contemporary and consistent culinary experience, brought to life through warm teamwork, high standards and thoughtful attention to detail. As a leader in our kitchen, you support smooth operations, guide the team and ensure our dishes meet the quality our guests expect.

Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport is located just 10 minutes from Schiphol Airport and 25 minutes from the city centre, features 342 guestrooms, a brasserie, bar and lounge, and offers both free parking for guests and team members and a complimentary shuttle bus service from Amsterdam Schiphol to the hotel, ensuring an easy and reliable commute.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations.
  • Lead the kitchen team in the Executive Chef’s absence to ensure seamless service.
  • Train, coach and motivate junior chefs to maintain consistent standards.
  • Contribute to menu planning, seasonal dishes and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee food quality, presentation and efficient preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, allergen and food safety procedures.
  • Manage ordering, stock levels, cost control and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with Front of House teams to support guest satisfaction.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a hotel or highvolume restaurant.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene and operational standards.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining quality.
  • Eligible to work in the Netherlands and fluent in English.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with banqueting, largescale production or events catering.
  • Creative approach to menu and dish development.
  • Strong understanding of cost control and stock management.
  • Dutch fluency is an advantage.

This position is paid in line with the Horeca CAO, according to the designated salary grade for the Sous Chef role.
