Why did you want to join us?

I was already familiar with PPHE Hotel Group having seen their profile on LinkedIn, so as soon as I learnt about the upcoming opening of art’otel amsterdam I applied for a role. When I came to the interview, I could see that the company treated its people differently to other hotel groups, and focused on developing their employees’ skills.

What was your first impression of the art’otel amsterdam?

Really positive. I had a great experience, especially on the assessment day that was part of the hotel’s pre-opening. It was all very different to my previous experience of other organisations.

Has the business lived up to your expectations?

Yes, I started with a ‘houseman’ job and now I am the manager of two hotel departments. My goal with the company is to become a general manager.

How have we supported your development?

They have given me the tools to develop myself, as well as opportunities to do cross training in all our other departments. I was also trained in the management skills needed to step up to more senior roles.

What does your current role involve?

I’m responsible for the full operations of the front office and housekeeping departments, and I work closely with the other departments and provide support when it’s required.

What are the most important qualities for success?

Passion, team work, ambition.

What are your colleagues like to work with?

My colleagues are great. They always support each other and are fun and really passionate about their jobs and what they do.

What has been your proudest moment so far?

There have been many proud moments, like winning a Passion Player company award, but I think my proudest moment was when I was promoted to be part of the management team.
