Why did you want to join us?

I saw the Holmes Hotel London receptionist role advertised online and did some research before I applied. From the moment I came to my interview I was able to see the beauty of the story that the building holds, its warmth and staff friendliness. It seemed like a place with great, positive energy and I knew that I had to be a part of it.

Has the company lived up to your expectations?

Absolutely, as a somewhat introverted person, the company and the role itself have helped me to come out of my comfort zone and improve my communication skills. I have always received full support from management and that gave me confidence in becoming a trusted team member.

How has you career progressed with us so far?

Quickly. I have been promoted nearly every other 6 months, from Receptionist to Team Leader, Guest Relations Manager and Reception Manager. When you show hard work and dedication, the company values you and helps to speed your development and progress.

What’s involved in your current role?

It’s very varied. I manage, supervise, train and support the reception team. I manage the room operations and the look after the budgets and reporting, while assisting with projects from senior management. I’m also provide a key connection between customers and the management team.

What’s the best thing about your job?

People. I believe that in life the most important thing is the people you have around you. I have been blessed to have a very diverse team. If one comes with positivity, another brings calmness, another joy, or another is good with figures. Also, seeing the smile on a customer face when you help after a long, tiring day or seeing them leaving the hotel and being so grateful for your service can only make one proud.

What’s been your most memorable moment so far?

When the doors to the newly refurbished Holmes Hotel London opened in May 2019. It was a completely different place, with a beautiful story that was impressing everyone that visited us. The delight that I see on a daily basis on our customers’ faces brings me constant pride.
