Why did you want to join us?

I was looking for a new challenge in the centre of Amsterdam and started looking at hotels closely around Amsterdam Central Station. I was already aware of the beautiful Victoria Hotel and its well-known history. As I saw my current position was available, I applied directly as it would be a great next step in my career in the hotel business. It is an appealing challenge to lead not one, but two, departments. And, I had heard a lot of good stories about the hotel and company regarding employee satisfaction.

What does your role involve?

I directly supervise all the Front Office and Guest Relations teams and ensure proper completion of all their duties and tasks. This involves a wide range of operational management duties as well as training and developing my team.

Has the company lived up to expectations?

Absolutely. I had a warm and welcome feeling from day one. I had a proper handover from the previous manager in my position. A lot of 1-2-1’s with my manager in the first two months have helped me to take the rights steps from the start, and gave me a lot of confidence.

What are your colleagues like to work with?

Great. Just great. A lot of open-minded people. Easy to work with.

What makes you proud to be here?

That I am part of the great history of the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam hotel. Every day when I walk from the station to the hotel, I am so proud to be working in one of the oldest and best-known hotels in the Netherlands.

What qualities does it take to succeed here?

Of course you need to be hospitable at heart, and also open-minded and eager to learn and listen to your experienced colleagues. If that’s you, then you’re off to a good start to your career.
