Main roles and objectives:
The internship consists of optimizing the quality of our service to the guests, through helping th guests, to assist in the reception, the lobby, the restaurant, the bar, and the porters and possibly other departments. As a Guest Relations Trainee, you will be informed daily about the details of arrivals and departing guests and will take appropriate action regarding VIP's and any other details. You ensure good internal communication with regard to guest wishes. You welcome and accompany VIP and returning guests and inspect their rooms and special VIP treatments. In addition, you will sample rando quality tests to ensure quality in the operational departments.
In addition, you will work with the Duty Manager. Together, you take care of handling various complaints, questions or problems. The Duty Manager is the contact point for the hotel where various activities arise and is responsible for the hotel in case of disasters. As a trainee, you will be given the opportunity to perform independent tasks in which the Duty Manager remains the final manager.
In addition to the above, you will be closely involved in the implementation of Social Media campaigns and you are co-responsible for communicating to our online audience.

Job rol responsibilities:

  • Perform as a host/hostess. Welcoming/supervising guests and VIP's, ensuring/overseeing the execution in accordance with the agreements made. Signalling of imperfections, meeting special requests, regular contact with guests and responding to their wishes, taking into account special wishes of long-stay guests, complaints, etc., if necessary, by instructing employees. Checking of rooms and rooms for guests and VIPs by checklist household / technical service / front office. Ensures well-running internal and external communication regarding guest wishes is essential in the above. Assisting in organizing internal promotions, such as a corporate evening, MICE event etc.
  • Is responsible for the correct placement of attentions that must be present in the hotel room prior to arrival by the guest or during the stay. Is aware of special holidays of different cultures and responds appropriately and independently. Creating and maintaining VIP programs in line with company standards. Purchase of all attributions within monthly budget.
  • Passing leads and recruited customers for further processing to the Sales Manager or Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for setting up and keeping records of the permanent guests in the PMS system (Opera). Attention is paid to the wishes/complaints of guests and (potential) relationships as well as compliance (by employees) with the set rules regarding work and presentation methods.
  • Processing and analysing guest comments derived from Medallia and user generated reviews (TripAdvisor,, etc) and targeted enterprise actions. Processing in PMS system (Opera) and adjusting guest history if necessary. Provide monthly reporting to the Front Office Manager.
  • Implementation and monitoring of procedures.
  • Reporting defects/inaccuracies of presentation of and to furniture, walls inside and outside the building. This by means of rounds run according to checklists and (department) SOPs. If possible, take action or take action yourself.
  • Participates in relevant (sectional) meetings.
  • Monitoring the general course of business and safety in the company, among other things, through reports of own-run rounds and by employees, own supervision of the hall lobby; thereby addressing irregularities and taking measures such as refusing or removing unwanted guests. Action in case of maladministration (fire, etc.) and take measures by alerting internal/external officials/employees and guests, eg according to prescribed procedures. Guiding the guests in emergency situations according to the company emergency plan.
  • Supporting Social Media Tasks (post, twitters, etc.).

  • You follow a MBO/HBO education in hospitality/hotel school.
