Do you love delivering inspirational service? We are currently building our team and are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Sous Chef for TOZI Amsterdam, as part of Park Plaza Vondelpark Amsterdam. Together with our Head Chef you will play a key role in launching of the concept in the completely renovated Park Plaza Vondelpark, Amsterdam!

Main role and objectives:

As the Sous Chef you will be assisting the Head Chef with the creative composition of the menus, development of new courses and overall course of the kitchen making sure a high level of product delivery is being reached. You will manage and inspire the kitchen team employees so the service standards and product delivery are constantly achieved.

Job role responsibilities below:

  • Support the Head Chef in the creative composition of the menus and development of new courses, based on the latest culinary trends around the world
  • Maintain desired culinary level of our restaurant concept
  • Build an efficient kitchen team by recruiting, selecting and retaining team members for the kitchen department
  • Support and inspire employees who are responsible for the preparation of food, cleaning the back of the house, dispose rubbish and stewarding
  • Aim for obtained efficiency of the kitchen production and gross profit
  • Coordinate and evaluating the department’s financial performance together with the Head Chef
  • Train and develop team members, including on the job coaching, organising trainings, creating training programmes and giving feedback
  • Overseeing that guest service and experience is according to restaurants’ context by creating an inspiring environment where everyone in the team is focused on ‘connecting’ with our guests and guest needs from the open kitchen
  • Ensure a high level of general knowledge of kitchen services and techniques, all menu items, and speciality items prepared in the kitchen
  • Be aware of, and comply with, all relevant food safety acts, risks, fire health and safety procedures, Arbo and HACCP regulations and ensure that the team follows the procedures

What we are looking for:

  • Multiple years of experience as (Junior) Sous Chef in an upmarket Italian Kitchen
  • Very  good knowledge of Italian products and ingredients
  • Genuine passion of Italian culinary culture
  • Initiator, creative and out of box thinker
  • Willingness to learn and progress
  • Team player
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Flexible and “can do” mentality
  • Drive for Results
  • A positive attitude and passion for providing exceptional service
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders within and outside of the hotel
