We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef with endless creativity and passion for the Mediterranean kitchen in a unique restaurant concept in one of Amsterdam’s most coolest hotels and prominent locations: art’otel amsterdam

5&33 restaurant is located proudly on the corner of Prins Hendrikkade & Martelaarsgracht, in one of the most iconic buildings in the heart of Amsterdam across from Central Station. We fuse food, people, art & design to present a uniquely creative environment for art lovers, foodies and socialisers including a famous artist in residence, innovative exhibitions, live DJ Sessions and celebrations for special occasions.

Our people are at the heart of our restaurant & bar concept and our chefs are artisans who design and deliver exceptional dishes inspired by the Mediterranean kitchen, with strong Italian influences. Our teams are engaging, thoughtful and passionate about great service and everyone joining our restaurant shares a passion for art, music, culture and lifestyle. At 5&33 restaurant we believe in innovation, creativity and shared experiences.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage and inspiring employees that are responsible for the preparation of food, cleaning the back of the house, dispose rubbish and stewarding;
  • Maintain desired culinary level of the restaurant;
  • Train and develop junior team members, including on the job coaching and giving feedback;
  • Ensure a high level of general knowledge of kitchen services and techniques, all menu items, and speciality items prepared in the kitchen;
  • Prepare and properly garnish all food orders as they are received in accordance with menu specifications, insuring proper plate presentation;
  • Make sure the dishes are pass-ready by preparing instant cook proceedings with regard to ingredients, recipes and presentation;
  • Assist the Head Chef in different activities.

  • Energy, enthusiasm and creativity;
  • The ability to inspire teams to excel in creating the ultimate guest experience;
  • A strong network within the Amsterdam hospitality and restaurant scene;
  • Experience in the restaurant industry;
  • A passion for art, culture and lifestyle;
  • A background as Sous Chef in a kitchen department.
