At the corporate office in Amsterdam we are looking for a Director of Reporting and Tax.

As a Director of Reporting and Tax you will work directly for the CFO and together with the team members of the Corporate Finance department take finance to a higher level. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of reporting (internal/ external) and taxation within the group. This includes research, planning and compliance. This position manages the team responsible for ensuring that all external reporting is prepared accurately, timely and in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. 

Key tasks and responsibilities
As a Director of Reporting and Tax your main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the CFO, this hands-on role will direct the team in all of the day-to-day and month-end accounting and closing activities. Responsible for the reporting of the group (Qs, Interims and Annual report). 
     
  • Advise management and provide guidance on the accounting treatment and reporting implications of potential transactions such as acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures and other business combinations.
     
  • Develop accounting policies, oversee implementation and keep abreast of new financial and LSE reporting requirements anticipating and articulating implications to the Company.
  • Overseeing a continuous improvement of financial reporting and accounting
    processes, constantly reviewing opportunities for process improvements.
     
  • Assists with the tax side of several corporate activities. Coordination of tax consulting projects.
     
  • Responsible for overseeing compliance and reporting for all taxes (such as property tax, VAT, Corporate income tax, sales tax).  Gathers information, responds to requests, and manages local tax audits.
     
  • Development and maintenance of tax compliance calendars, tax returns and liaison with advisors and local teams on tax related deliverables. Together with external advisors, maintain international transfer pricing documentation and lead overall transfer pricing activities.
     
  • Together with external advisors perform tax compliance and tax research for various taxes.  Proactively provide timely information regarding the impact of tax law changes.
     
  • Actively takes part in numerous corporate finance activities, such as restructures, acquisitions, divestments, refinancing and stock exchange related matters.

We are looking for
The role of Director of Reporting and Tax would be suited to a graduated CPA with over 8 years experience via the public audit industry and preferably through finance in business. Throughout the experience the candidate has built up significant knowledge around IFRS and is capable of working with tax advisors on a high degree.  You are hands-on and have an eye for detail, have strong problem solving skills and have the ability to lead, motivate and develop a team. For this role you need excellent negotiation and relationship management skills. You are not required to be a tax specialist, but you are a quick learner and able to communicate with our external tax advisors.  The role will have two direct reports and many indirect reports throughout the organization (+/- 160 people in finance).
 

Essential and Desirable skills:

  • Registered Accountant (graduate CPA).
  • +8 years senior level experience (via Public Accounting experience and/of Finance in business experience. Preferably from B2C Environment).
  • A self-starter who is able to work autonomously, and motivate the team to ensure timely achievement of objectives.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team.
  • Good basic understanding of tax and tax accounting.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with functional leaders across the organization in
    order to recommend and implement solutions to company issues
  • Comfortable with complex international operations in multiple countries and multiple currencies.
  • Comfortable with multiple priorities, able to anticipate and vocalize future needs and consequences, yet remain focused on key goals.
  • Strong knowledge on large and complex consolidations, using advanced consolidation software (SAP)
  • IFRS technical advisory and tax planning capabilities
