Carstens Amsterdam, a brand new concept created by Maik Kuijpers is coming to Amsterdam next year. Carstens, a Dutch brasserie, that will open its doors in the Hasselaerssteeg, just a stone’s throw from Central Station.

Maik Kuijpers, the former chef at restaurant De Librije*** has created a brasserie that is approachable and relaxed, focusing on honest food and local produce without any frills available for everyone to enjoy, day in day out. Ingredients from Dutch soil served with a creative twist. For this creative, no-nonsense concept we are looking for new talent! Are you the - down to earth - and – passionate – team member we are looking for? Become a part of our awesome team!

What creative twist do we need from you? Someone who: 

  • Is responsible for the production of mise en place for all sections in the kitchen
  • Support (demi) chef's in preparation of the orders
  • Motivated to learn and develop your knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation
  • Becomes quickly aware of all menu items, the recipes, methods of production and presentation standards

The main ingredients required to produce the best service:

  • A real food lover and has a passion for cooking - likes to create beautiful dishes with a creative twist
  • Likes to interact with the guests (live cooking)
  • Interested in innovative cooking techniques
  • Good command of English (preferably also Dutch)
  • Experience in the kitchen department
  • Must be flexible to shift changes, weekends and bank holidays
